The event

Bilster Berg was, in 2013, and remains the first new test and race track in Germany since the construction of the Nürburgring in 1927. The track layout was designed by Hermann Tilke, who has, among other things, designed seven of the current Formula 1 circuits. Rally legend Walter Röhrl was also involved in the project.

The RaceTrack4You team took part in the first official event with the 7-IG back on 3 June 2013, and we have organised numerous events at this beautiful venue ever since.

Our driver training course takes place on one of Europe’s most spectacular circuits, the Bilster Berg, which was originally designed as a test track for the automotive industry and, as such, features a challenging combination of bends coupled with steep descents and ascents. The road surface is the same as that of public roads and does not offer the high level of grip found on a race track. Bilster Berg has earned itself the nickname the ‘little Nordschleife’.

The 4.2 km-long track follows the natural topography. 44 crests and dips put drivers and chassis to the test. The 26% gradient in the left-hand bend at the entrance to the Mausefalle, followed by two compressions and a subsequent 21% climb with a blind right-hander, are already legendary.

The total journey time is now 4 hours 30 minutes, as we are now using two lunch groups. This event takes place on a Friday.

This event is open to a maximum of 30 vehicles of all makes per group. Only road-legal and insured vehicles are permitted. Participants will drive in two groups, taking turns. No circuit experience is required. Beginners are welcome.

Entry fee

Club members: 684,- euros
without membership 760,- euros

Several drivers can share a car. However, a charge of €35 applies for each additional passenger. Total driving time: 4.5 hours, divided into 30/45/60-minute stints (45 minutes longer than in previous years!). Open pit lane within your group. Beginners with no circuit experience are also welcome.

Catering

There is an excellent restaurant with a terrace at Bilster Berg. Lunch for the driver is included in the entry fee. Lunch for additional guests can be purchased on site. The terrace is also an excellent spot for taking photos, as it overlooks the entire start/finish area. We ourselves offer free cold drinks and coffee in the pit.

Procedure

We recommend arriving the day before.
From approx. 5.00 pm – 6.00 pm: collection of race packs at the Ringhotel Germanenhof in the village next to the course.

Anyone who attends the drivers’ briefing the evening before can arrive at the track later the following morning.
However, we will only be able to issue the transponders required at Bilster Berg the following morning.
This will be followed by a group dinner at the hotel.

On the day of the event: Meet at the race track from 8:00 am. Participants who were not present the evening before will now be issued with their race numbers and transponders. Transponders are mandatory at Bilster Berg to identify any vehicles that are too loud.

We’ll be taking turns driving the Lotus-heavy Seven-IG. There’ll be some interesting cars on display.

Race packs will be handed out from 8.15 am. A briefing for all participants will take place at around 9.00 am. We will start the practice laps from 9.30 am.

During the first session for each group, there will be guided laps lasting approximately 15 minutes.
Instructors are on site all day to ride along if requested or to offer further guided laps. To communicate whilst riding, we may use special helmets with built-in radio.

Volume

Note: Maximum noise level measured at 105 dB(A) at 75% of maximum revs, measured 1 metre from the exhaust. The organiser has set a daily noise allowance. Once this has been used up, the event may be terminated early. Consequently, excessively loud vehicles may be excluded early on. This has not happened at our events so far, as we ensure that groups remain small, with 20–30 vehicles!
