About the Track

The Nürburgring Grand Prix track is a modern, safe race track with a track width of 10-25 m, generous run-off zones and gravel beds.

History

After 1976, the Nordschleife was considered too dangerous for Formula 1. Therefore, after several years of construction, the "most modern and safest Grand Prix track in the world" at the time was opened in 1984. In 2001, the Grand Prix circuit was extended from 4.5 km to its current distance of 5.15 km with the addition of the "Mercedes Arena" section.
